Child-Led Learning, Guided by Experienced Teachers
A full-day preschool and early learning center in Seattle’s Central District, for children from 12 months to 5 years. Open 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Welcomed. Included. Safe.
From the moment you walk in, we want you and your child to feel at home. Children start each morning with familiar faces and a routine they trust. Children who feel at home are ready to speak up, make friends and try something new.
Learning that follows your child’s curiosity
Our teachers plan every week with clear goals, using Creative Curriculum, an evidence-based curriculum built on how young children learn. They shape each lesson around what the children are curious about, so the goals come to life through the children’s own interests. Children stay engaged longer when the lesson grows from their own questions, and they learn to trust their ideas.
Toddlers
12 months to three. Steady routines and caring teachers help toddlers settle in away from home, explore and find their words.
Preschool
Three to five. Children take on projects, solve problems together and share their work with their families, building the language, social skills and early literacy they carry into kindergarten.
The Nature Year
Our preschool classes head outdoors for hands-on units that teach children to observe closely, ask questions and describe what they discover.
Teachers who stay
Our lead teachers have each been with First Place for seven years or more, and four members of our team have taught young children for 30 years or longer. Your child sees the same caring faces year after year, and you build a real relationship with the people who care for your child every day.
A school families come back to
Families here become friends, and those friendships carry on outside the school day. Many return with younger siblings, nieces and nephews. We see parents as partners and keep you closely connected to your child’s day.
Open House Family Friday
On the third Friday of every month, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., our doors are open to prospective families, neighbors and anyone curious about First Place. Walk through the classrooms, meet our teachers and talk with our families.
